No veneer, no MDF core — a solid slab of Cherry or Black Walnut with real heft, milled to sit flat and outlast every game night.

Cherry warms and deepens with age. Black Walnut runs dark and dramatic, chocolate grain with the engraving cut clean across it. Same board, two completely different moods.
The pegs stay with the board
A magnetic strip on the back holds the pegs snug between games so they never roll under the couch. No more digging under the cushions to find where they went.
Hangs like art when it's not in play
A keyhole slot built into the back means it goes straight on the wall between games — no easel, no stand, no shoving it in a drawer.

Hi, I'm Kirk. Timber & Smoke is my workshop in small town Ontario, Canada, and every board that leaves it passes through my hands and nobody else's. It starts as rough sawn hardwood from Bass Lake Saw Mill, right down the road — no factory blanks, no MDF with a photo of woodgrain printed on top.
I cut it, plane it, sand it, and engrave it by hand, one board at a time. I read the name and year you send me, lay out the design myself, and only then does the laser touch the wood.
This is the same workshop and the same process behind our engraved keepsakes and ornaments — real materials, made one at a time, by someone who actually looks at what you sent before it gets engraved.

This is Scarlett — official shop supervisor, unofficial scrap wood thief. She comes along on every supply run and patrols the shop floor while I'm at the bench, always keeping an eye on the raw offcuts and never anything that's actually headed out the door.
Every order that's ever gone out this door, she was somewhere nearby when it happened.

How long does it take to arrive?+
Every board is made to order, one at a time. Plan on 5 to 7 business days before it ships. Need it by a specific date? Message us and we'll tell you straight whether it's realistic.
What if I make a mistake in the details?+
Every order gets proofed by a human before it touches the laser. If something looks off, like a misspelled name, we reach out and confirm before engraving. Nothing gets burned into the wood until it's right.
What exactly is it made of?+
Rough sawn Cherry or Black Walnut, milled at Bass Lake Saw Mill here in Ontario, then cut, planed, sanded, and finished by hand. Not painted, not stained — the natural colour of the wood is what you see. Approximately 18" long × 4.5" wide × 1" thick, though every board is made by hand so measurements may vary slightly.
Does it come with pegs?+
Yes — every board ships with 3 sets of polished metal pegs (Gold, Silver, and Dark Gray), enough to play right out of the box. Want them personalized too? You can add 3 sets of engraved pegs in your choice of color when you personalize your board below.
Can I hang it on the wall?+
Yes. There's a keyhole slot built into the back, so when it's not in play it hangs like a piece of art instead of getting shoved in a closet drawer.
